New salaries Hospitality

In the midst of this, all salaries will go up from July 1st, 2024, in compliance with the national minimum wage. This means, that the base wages for all positions go from €13,27 to €13,68 per hour.

I would like to take this opportunity to explain the salaries and benefits offered more closely.

Salary

Our salaries for kitchen staff are always negotiable based on their experience. We are aware that chefs are highly sought after and are happy to negotiate a higher wage for them with our clients.

Additionally, I would like to explain the gross/net salaries in a little more detail.

We usually advertise and offer the candidates the salaries excluding benefits, which are listed in the same sentence. It has come to our attention, that candidates do not really see the benefits and thus the full salary of the positions we offer (salary of €13,68/h gross + 8% holiday money, and + 10% holiday hours).

Typically, the employee saves the extra benefits for time off, such as vacations or to compensate possible low hours.

Here an example: Attached you find a pro forma payslip on a salary of €13,68 per hour gross, working 38 hours and adding holiday money of 8% and holidays of 10% to the weekly salary. You see the gross salary is €519,84, while adding the benefits it equals to €621,56. Divided by the 38 hours worked, you can see that the gross inclusive salary is €16,36 per hour.

This means that a salary of €13,68 gross + 8% + 10% equates to €16,36 gross inclusive per hour.

Monthly, this adds up to an all-inclusive gross salary of €2550 based on 38h/week. To calculate this the following is needed: €16,68 x 38 hours x 4,1 weeks (1 month) = all-inclusive gross salary.

As I know the net salaries are important for you and the applicants, I also wanted to include the estimate of the taxes that need to be paid per week.

In the proforma payslip you can see the weekly net salary is €514,41 based on 38 hours. Here, the health insurance contribution is already deducted automatically.

This translates to an hourly net salary of €13,53 and a monthly net salary of around €2100, which is after taxes and health insurance, but before the rent payment.

Health insurance

The health insurance payments are mandatory unless a candidate chooses to get their own health insurance. This amounts to a payment of €35,58 per week (€145 per month), which in most cases can be refunded by the government monthly. This refund is based on the earnings of the employee but is usually between €100-120 per month. This benefit is granted to every person working in the Netherlands who fulfil the salary requirements. We apply to this grant for the employees after they have passed their probation period of 4 weeks. The refund from the government will however be paid retroactively from the day the employee has started working.

This means that in most cases, the employee receives €100-120 per month to cover the health insurance costs.
